I like the feeling of how there's that one close-by dust cloud in the corner, helps add a bit of depth to something still very distant :)

Some people can't sense the depth by it. Glad you see it and like it :P

This brings up a thought in me- Space art tries so very hard at looking huge, giving the feeling of utter and absolute insignificance to the viewer, but it can never achieve such a thing. That's a feeling that can only be drawn out from one by oneself.

Interesting thought. You maybe right but sometimes I really feel the absolute insignificance in others people work.

I think it just needs a sense of scale to be able to see how huge it is...Like an entire thunderstorm brewing on a planet seen close up and then seeing a whole nother planet beyond that where such a storm is a little speck, or better yet - structures that are supposed to be massive like cities extending into space, artificial rings etc still being dwarfed by the size of their cosmic surroundings 8-) Indeed it's hard to establish scale and depth in space since with no atmosphere - things don't fade out with distance and so a Jupiter-sized planet millions of miles away appears pretty much the same as a beach ball with Jupiter painted on it would appear if it were a few feet from you ;)

Hmm... I would disagree. But I guess it's a personal reaction. Ever played Homeworld 1/2?

Really? And you never felt a sense of scale, even in the missions with the freakin' huge pieces of wreckage in the background? That's my favorite part of the game. It really gives a great sense of scale IMHO.

Whenever I look up at the sun, during the day, or the moon and stars at night, I'm always reminded of how utterly, pathetically, ineffably microscopic I am, the world is, and every man, woman, and child on it is. Whenever I look at the sun, or a shadow cast by an object by its light, I think "That is light coming from a very fucking long way away." No media ever really gets to me like that.

"Size matters not."
Video games have a huge effect on me, so I get that feeling from them.

It's good, I like it! Gotta say it resemble your old works a bit too much though. I feel you should take more of your newfound painting skills into your nebulae creations though, rely less on fractals and over- painted fractals and more on the airbrush. Your recent improvement on the painting field could (and should?) make your space art even better.

That said this is still a fantastic nebulae though! :)

Well I will never get tired of this kind of nebulae. It is the basis of my space art. After I made the basic nebulae with colored clouds I got into the fractals because of =synax444 and I wanted to be one of the best in that area xD I will start to show some entirely painted images but when I get good enough with the painting. So my gallery will be renewed, but I wont stop making fractal nebulae, that's for sure :P!

Glad you like the image and it has much more painting in it then one can think :P
