I will rework the sun a little I guess. I like it the way it is now but I think to add some fractals to it to give it more details (or paint them ) I gave the shadows a bit of the background colors. I set them on low opacity to make them just a bit visible because: 1) The shadows must be black whatever the background is. 2) On higher opacity the planets get flat and don't fit very well
The sun is not so hard to make. Check the gallery of =keepwalking07 There is a tutorial for suns. He uses mostly cloud images but I add some apophysis fractal flames (you can find some resources in my gallery and in dA's resources pages)
I rarely use tutorials. And if I do I normally find out that things work differently for me.
What I needed was the idea about the distribution of brightness. Now, considering that you see a lot more surface area in a section of your field of view than in a section of the same size in the centre of the sun, it makes sense and it's clear why all my sun attempts had this wrongness about them.
Lovely colour, my dream is to see that rich red ambience from the sun illuminating the sky at night, how cool would that be?
Sun's when close up can look cool with that "glowing edge" but when the whole disk is visible from afar it kinda makes it looks like a glowing donut maybe this would be been better if the Sun was more uniformly-lit, perhaps brighter in the middle than around the side still, it's a very nice peice
